Off the Wall Craftiness!

I recently stumbled upon a new (well, new to me) blog, just in time for a gorgeous color challenge! I was most inspired by the cake in the lower-right picture. I love the detail with the dots, and recreated this in my card with some embroidered french knots (see last pic). I'll be sending this one to my in-laws tomorrow for their anniversary!

3 min necklace

My husband and I had plans to meet a friend in the city today for froyo. I wanted to make a new necklace to wear, but being short on time I needed something quick. I whipped this up in just a few minutes, and although not new or original, it was fun to make something with some instant gratification! (supplies-chain and lace trim)

2S4Y "Hey" card

Using the sketch from 2S4Y, I made a fun card to give to a friend. I used some photo booth style pictures I took of myself a week or 2 ago, and incorporated the panel into the design. I hope it will bring a smile to someone's face!

Embellish Butterflies Challenge

The Embellish challenge this time around is to use kraft, green, and black, as well as butterflies on a project. I wanted to keep my card simple, but detailed (hmm...two opposites!). I die cut a bunch of butterflies, yet kept it white-on-white to prevent things from getting too busy. I stamped the sentiment in a light mossy green, and matted it all with kraft on a black card base. Here is the result:

I think my favorite part was gluing on all of those butterflies!

My "deer" friend!

I know...it's totally cheesy. I used a sketch from CPS this week for my card. Here it is! :

I did the hand cut flowers again, much like the ones I did recently on this card. Looking back at these pics now, I just wish I had printed out the sentiment in black instead of grey...it's a little tough to see.

Thanks!

Today I used the above sketch to make a thank you card. I think with the warm weather finally arriving (90 degrees tomorrow!) my card themes have gone towards more flowers and butterflies. Here's my interpretation of the sketch:

Caardvarks May Challenge

I really loved using this layout from Caardvarks. I wanted to keep most of the card pretty simple to draw more focus to the layered paper flower. Thanks for checking it out!

Butterfly card

I've been seeing so many butterfly cards on different blogs, so I decided to join the trend. Here is one I made using a sketch from Mojo Monday.

2S4Y Laura's #52

I had been meaning to make a card for a coworker's baby shower, and I finally got around to it! I used this week's sketch from 2S4Y, and kept the colors simple and soft:

Mmm...strawberries

The CARDS mag challenge for this week is to make a card with berries. I knew that I didn't have any berries paper or stamps, so I decided to paint some strawberries. It was fun to paint something in a smaller scale than I am used to. Here's what I ended up with:

I really like how it came out, but have one regret- not painting on watercolor paper. My poor white cardstock buckled a bit from the paint. Oh well- I know better for next time!

{ Embellish } Dimension Challenge

I love making cards with dimension!! The only problem is getting them into the envelope :)

For the Embellish Magazine Color Challenge, I made a card focusing on 2 layer hand-cut flowers with eyelet centers. They were super simple and quick, and I didn't have to worry about being too careful-I wanted each to be different. In addition, the white and brown window element is adhered with foam adhesive (it's a little tough to tell in the photos).

This card was a lot of fun to make!

More paintings

I just posted a few more paintings/prints in my etsy shop. Check them out here!

2S4Y Kazan's #52

Here is a card I made for my cousin's 2nd birthday. The above sketch is from this week's 2S4Y Challenge. I really like the simplicity of the layout!
