Embellish Babies

This Embellish Magazine challenge was a lot of fun! I'm really upset that the colors on the pic didn't come out right....I PROMISE that the colors in my card are exactly the same as in the inspiration photo. There is NO pink on my card! It's a shame that it appears as though there is.

Oh well...moving on....

I kept adding a sentiment, then removing it. I think the simplicity of the card with no sentiment is a lot more striking than how it looked with one slapped on there.

Grr...I keep looking at that pink in the photo...I might try to take another pic later in different light to prove that it is peach!!

UPDATE: Ok, after I posted, I did take a new pic. Obviously the composition is not as good as the originals (don't you love the anime in the background!?), but taking it inside near the window actually helped with the colors- I have no idea why. I think I need to learn more about photography!

Blue, Yellow, and White

The current CAS-tastic challenge is to use blue, yellow and a neutral in a card (I chose white). I was inspired by a card I made last week, since I got so many lovely comments on it!

Paper Crafts Sketch

Using the current sketch at the Paper Crafts Connection, I made an elegant thank you card. Embroidery floss is becoming my new favorite embellishment (check my recent posts), and it was super easy to incorporate it into my card.

Ribbon 3 Ways

The challenge at Hidden Treasures was to use ribbon. I tried to use ribbon in different ways on my card: the ribbon flower, ruffled ribbon next to the sentiment, and the knotted ribbon across the bottom. I also added rhinestones across the top-now it's perfect to give to a little girl!

ColourQ 38 Wall Art

Instead of making a card for this week's ColourQ challenge, I decided to make some wall art.

The dimensions are 8"x8", so it is not too big. I took inspiration directly from the photo provided. The black design was drawn on with a marker (I drew it freehand, so it is not exactly like the pic). I attached the deer-as well as one of the orange squares- with foam adhesive, and sewed a zig zag stitch in red around the whole thing.

Thinking of You (2!)

After making this card yesterday, I decided to give it another shot with some colors that are more my style.

CPS172 Natural Card

This week's CPS sketch was fun to work with. As I was making it, I was really hating the color palate I chose, but now that it is finished I really like it. Here's what I made:

Pillow Box Gift Card Holder

Hi again! (lots of posts today...)

I just made a pillow box for this month's challenge at Elle's Studio. The theme is teacher gifts, and as a teacher, I know I would love to receive something like this from one of my students! The sentiment stamp actually wasn't the right size for what I wanted, so I went to the Elle's Studio shop and found the image, sized it, and printed it onto cardstock. The outside was kept pretty simple to focus the attention on my paper flower, and the inside has a spot for a gift card! (haha...you can kinda see my reflection in that Dunkin' Donuts card!)

CARDs challenge with pins

At the CARDs blog this week, the challenge was to use pins. I never quite understood why someone would put a stickpin or a hatpin into a card. Aren't they sharp? I went the safe route, and used safety pins. I really like how this card came out, especially since it reminds me of geometric string art (oops, I just revealed that I'm a math geek!).

OTWC 12 Wedding

More gorgeous inspiration this week from OTWC! I loved the color combo, as well as the black and white stripes. I took both of these into consideration when making my card, and here is what I came up with:

I think this would be a great wedding card!

2S4Y K55 Birthday Card

Using the above sketch from 2S4Y, I made this birthday card:

This last pic shows the hand embroidery I did all along the curved cardstock. I like how simple the card is, but the bright colors keep it interesting and fun. Thanks for looking!

EBTKS Floss Card!

This card was a lot of fun to make! I used the sketch from EBTKS#17, die cut the butterfly, wrapped the top-fold card with embroidery floss, and adhered the front panel with dimensional adhesive. The sentiment is embossed in black, and I drew the antenna on with black pen. Hope you like it!
