SSD - life of your dreams

Today is my last day as a Skipping Stones Design Guest Designer.  Since there are 5 Tuesdays in May, they are mixing things up with an inspiration photo instead of a sketch.  Check it out:

source: Design Seeds, a fun color blog!

I liked that serene beachy image SO much that I printed it out to use on my card.
I stamped the sentiment with a stamp from SSD's Healing Wings set.

To make the frame, I embossed white cardstock with this texture plate from Lil' Inker, and cut out the center portion.  I left a little bit extra around the inside of the frame and folded it down so that the frame would be raised off of the paper.  To complete that inner border, I adhered a thin strip of cardstock all the way around.

Thanks for stopping by, and head back to Skipping Stones to see what the others made :)

My Hero

I really love the newly released stamps from My Thoughts Exactly.  The Mother and Father's Day subway art sets are especially cool!

In addition to creating your own subway art, you can also mix and match to make more traditional looking sentiments, like the one on my card today:

Do you recognize the city in the background?  I see the Hancock Tower...the Prudential building....yep, you're right- it's Boston!! (what's that you say? you had no idea that it was Boston? Just roll with it....)

inlinkz has a new feature where you can link directly to products from Simon Says Stamp without inputting them yourself.  I decided to give it a try:

You know what? That was a bit too much work.  Don't expect me to link all the products I use in each post (like the cool people do)....I'll at least always link up my DT products :)

SSD and Twinery Blog Hop!

So glad you could stop by for day 2 of the Skipping Stones Design and Twinery Blog Hop!  You might have gotten here via Katarina's blog.  If not, you can always start back at the beginning.

Prizes for the hop include a $20 sampler pack from the Twinery, and stamps from SSD.

Below is my card using the new set, Grapeful, and some Twinery Twine:

I used some spray mist (for the 3rd time ever), and I'm not sure how I feel about it, lol.  Maybe I'm just not good enough at it yet :)

I also battled with whether or not I wanted to add a sentiment, but I really like it without one.  The Grapeful set comes with some silly pun sentiments, in case you want to check it out!

Your next stop today is Stacy. Enjoy!

YCU Challenge #10

This month's challenge at Young Crafters Unite is to use flowers or a floral image.   My card uses a big flower cut from some patterned cardstock I had:

Don't forget to hit up the rest of the DT at YCU!  If you play along, you might win a gift card to Simon Says Stamp :)

Lawnscaping - Embossing

In case you forgot, I'm a guest designer this month at Lawnscaping.  Here's the theme for this week's challenge:

I chose to do a little of both- heat and dry embossing.

The sentiment is heat embossed, and I used an embossing folder for the red part on the inside of the card (I wish I took a better picture showing the window cutout on the front and the red panel on the inside)

Head back to Lawnscaping to see the other projects from the DT!

MTE May Blog Hop

Good morning, and welcome to the My Thoughts Exactly May Blog Hop!  You likely got here via Benedicte....if not, you can always start back at the beginning.  The May release stamps went on sale earlier this month, and the DT is featuring some of the sets today.

My card uses the gorgeous and delicate Dainty Doilies. You get 4 images in this set, plus some tiny sentiments.  To go with my doily, I chose a saying from More Big Thoughts (links below).

(hope my doily card is Moxie Fab!)

As always, there's a prize up for grabs....make sure you comment along the way for a chance to win a $10 gift card.  In addition, there is a sale going on....you can take 12% off of your order of $25.00 or more by entering the code GRAD12 at checkout.

Your next stop is the wonderful Jessica!

you're amazing

"you're amazing"....that counts as encouragement, right?

I made the card below with one of the new sets from My Thoughts Exactly...I am in love with those dainty doily images!

Each of the letters (as well as the grey stamped doily) are propped up with foam tape.  I really love how this one came out, and I can't wait to figure out who to give it to!  For now, I'll link it up to the Moxie Fab World's doily challenge :)

Alyssa's Surprise Birthday Hop!

A (very) quick post

Inspired by Aga's card at CASE Study!

Goodnight....I'll be back in the morning with a special post!

Greatest Grandpa

For my Runway Inspired Challenge post, please scroll down!

Today I am continuing my Guest Designer gig at Skipping Stones Designs.  I tried something new- misting (I got some misters in my Stamping Royalty prize pack- not something I would have purchased on my own, but I figured since I had them I'd give it a shot!).  I also wanted to join in on the fun at the Moxie Fab World.

I masked and sprayed onto some super thick canvas paper I have.  I think the result is quite cool, even though the card doesn't look like "me" (know what I mean?).  Here it is:

(I was inspired by this)

Now get out your SSD stamps and play along!

I am in love with the print in this dress below, from Tsumori Chisato.   Doubt I would ever wear it, but it looks so light and breezy and summery, don't you think?

This week the challenge is sponsored by Copic, and the only Copic markers I own are the ones they sent me for this challenge!  I didn't receive any colors like the ones in the inspiration photo, so instead I stamped an image that I think reflects the print of her dress:

(by the way, I used a stamp I recently got in my amazing prize package for being an honorable mention for Stamping Royalty!! I was SO excited when I got everything in the mail!)

I loved coloring with the Copics.  Much different than my usual coloring mediums, watercolors and colored pencils.

This card was given to the technology teacher in my school last week, because she helped set up the choral mics and sound system for our concert :)

Wait til you see the prize from Copic...you'll certainly want to play along for a chance to win!  To see what the other Runway Inspired gals made, head over to their blogs!

the coolest card I've ever made

Well, that blog post title makes quite the claim, doesn't it?  And although most of you probably won't think this is the coolest card I've ever made, I certainly do!  To me, my coolest cards are the ones with geeky references (note that I am not saying these are my "best" cards, hehe)...like this one or this one.

Hopefully you'll get a kick out of it:

...and yes, this one is headed to the Gallery Idol flickr gallery :)

Reach for the Stars

I am worried that my creative focus this month might shift towards Gallery Idol.  At first, I wasn't sure if I would even enter.  Once again, the contest is smack dab in the middle of grad classes, and the always busy end-of-the-school-year.  Then, I thought "ehhh, maybe I'll submit one or two cards, and just see what happens..."  Now, I think I might have many to share.  Who knows- it will definitely be determined by how much free time I end up with in the coming weeks, but don't be surprised if you see a bunch of entries here on the blog :)
