Mama Elephant Photo Challenge

Oooohh....pretty, right?

My husband and I are going to NY this weekend for my grandparents' 65th wedding anniversary- the whole family is coming together from far and wide to celebrate!  I used this great image from the Mama Elephant photo challenge as inspiration to create my card:

I created a mask for the X and O (the X was two intersecting strips of cardstock, and I hand-cut the O after quickly sketching it), and sprayed with some glimmer mist. You can't really see in the photo, but it is dazzling!

I realize that this card is definitely younger-looking, and might not scream "elderly anniversary"....but my grandparents are fun and spunky (and definitely don't act like they are in their 80s and 90s), so I think it works :)

Not shown? The envelope, which I cut using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch board. I stamped the back with an image from the Mama Elephant "Smitten" set- those cute hands in the shape of a heart!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Just wanted to announce the winner of last week's giveaway from Ellen Hutson. I had asked everyone about their favorite thing from the week, and I LOVED reading all of the responses!

The winner (chosen by random.org) is...

Robbie said...

back home!

Hey folks, I'm back home from my vacation, and was SO excited to get into the craft room!  I can probably count on one hand the number of cards I've made in the past two months due to grad school and spending the past week at a beach house with my family (umm, totally awesome trip by the way).  We arrived back in MA around 3pm this afternoon, and was thrilled to get some DT stuff done, as well as these 2 cards.

The first is for the PTI August Blog Hop.  You can find the colors/sketches here (it's pretty obvious which one I used!)

I moved the sentiment to the other side because it balances out the heaviness from the basket on the right side of the bike.

Next is a card for one of the Stamp-a-Faire challenges...

Well, that's all for me today- time to head to bed a little early today so I can get up for my first day back to work!

I'm a guest in the CLASSroom!!

A little while ago, I got one of the best emails ever- and invitation from Ellen Hutson to be a guest in the CLASSroom!  Of course I said yes :)  Below is a little sneak peek of my card:

I have a little treat for you as well...a giveaway!  Here are some of the products I used, and you can win the whole bundle!

Please leave a comment by the end of the day Monday (I'll draw a winner on Tuesday), answering this question:

What was your favorite part of this week?

Mine? Going to the beach!  Warm sun, cool water....just perfect.  Thanks to Ellen for sponsoring this giveaway, and for giving me the chance to be a guest!  Now go pop over to the CLASSroom!

CSS Group Project

Good morning!  For those of you who are curious, I'm officially DONE with all of my grad school work!!  I have been celebrating this week on (a much needed) vacation at the Jersey shore with my family.  I'm hoping to get back to my "normal" frequency of posts soon, but teaching starts up again next Monday...we'll see what happens! (although I have been seriously missing my craft room)

Today I'm sharing a fun project for Clear and Simple Stamps, along with a "recipe"- in case you want to challenge yourself to give it a try!  You can check that out at the bottom of the post.

I did some second generation stamping on those feathers to give the dream catcher a little more depth, drew the circle in the center and the lines to the outer circle with a white gel pen, and stitched the strings with some embroidery floss.

You can also visit the CSS blog today for another great project recipe!
