OCC Easter Wishes

Happy Saturday to you all! I'm excited since I have the week off from work (hooray for April vacation!) and I just had my first of 4 Spring concerts with my students this past Thursday. They really did a wonderful job :)

Our new hostess for the next 2 challenges at Our Creative Corner is Vicki Burdick (It's a Stamp Thing) and she chose the theme, "Easter Wishes." The only catch is that your project must be 3D! I'm always challenged when it comes to making 3D projects and I really love it!

My project today includes my all-time favorite Easter treat, the Nestle Crunch Egg. I go crazy for them! Now, I'm also addicted to the Crunch Bells at Christmas, and the Crunch Hearts for Valentine's Day. (Oddly enough I don't really love regular Nestle Crunch candy bars....)
So anyway....I totally hoard these things after Easter since I have to wait sooo long for the next holiday to get more.

Since my project includes a treat, I'm also linking it up for the Moxie Fab World's Food Wraps Challenge. Of course, when I give it to someone, I will include the rest of the bag, because my project only uses one egg! I'll bet you thought I was going to eat the rest of them...

I'm warning you now that there are many pics ahead:
I made this cute birdcage and stand from plain ol' white cardstock- without a template. I got to put my mathmatical skills to the test to make sure it all worked out. I originally wanted to make it a cupcake stand, but then I got the idea for the shredded paper nest.

The paper bird I made is suspended from the top of the cage with some clear thread.

Here's a close-up of the tag:

This is what it looks like with the top of the cage off:
And just the base:

Yum!! Crunch Egg!!

Thanks for sitting through my overly wordy post and please check out the projects from the rest of the DT at Our Creative Corner. Hope you play along!

  1. Jennifer, what a wonderful bird cage! I love it! Suspending the bird with some clear thread really makes it look like its flying! and the shredded paper nest is the perfect touch!
Enjoy your time off during April vacation. Can't wait to see what all you create! Enjoy!
