a do over

Have you ever looked at your old projects?    For me, it is always strange to look back to things I have made \with a new pair of eyes.  Sometimes I get that overwhelming "what was I thinking"?" feeling.

Amber recently set up a challenge for her readers- to go back and find an old card to re-do.  I looked back into the archives to find my most heinous creation.  Well folks, this is it:

(and yes, I am SO embarrassed by it, that I refuse to make that picture any larger than it is now!)

Let's see....2 different patterned papers, a terribly ugly/poorly sewn ruffed fabric border, a twisted wire tree complete with seed beads at the end, an arbitrary fuchsia square, and a random bow.  Yikes- what a mess!

For my remake, I kept a few things- the tree, the green color, and....well.....I guess that's it.  Oh yea- it's also portrait orientation:

Ahh...now that's better!

(quick update...someone had asked about that tree stamp.  It's from Inkadinkado, although I got it a while ago, and cannot find it on their website)

  6. Ok I do like the do over better, but still.stand by the idea that if you really dislike the card send it to your mom/grandma-they'll like it.

  18. Does it make me a bad person to say that I am SO glad you posted a do-over card? Heeee! I never thought you HAD anything to do over, Jen! Your designs always look perfect to me. Must admit that I was cracking up at your description of the old one, so funny! LOVE your new card so crisp and elegant. The tree image is adorable!

  20. I really love this challenge because it give me a chance to see how some of my favorite paper crafters have grown. It also lets me know that you don't have to "know" your signature style right away. It can be something that you grown into and find along the way. I can't express how encouraging it is for someone new to stamping like me! The new project is beautiful and, I must say, I appreciate the confidence and willingness to share your work in the first project as well. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
