Texture!

Have you heard? Sadly, EBTKS is having their last challenge this week. This news came outta nowhere! I'm going to really miss their challenges.

The inspiration is texture. I incorporated texture into my card in a few ways. I de-bossed the snowflake on the white cardstock, folded a 3D poinsettia (haha, I will never forget how to spell that now!), and used a paper with flocking-the pinkish color in the striped paper is super fuzzy!

CASE Study

This is my first time playing along with the CASE Study challenge. It's so much fun! Above is Heather's card, which is this week's inspiration. I chose to stick with the layout, since it is so pretty. Instead of 3 flowers, I chose to incorporate 3 Christmas ornaments. Here's the result:

I even tried to tie my bow like Heather! A little tricky to see in the photos, but the background paper is a pearly white. Thanks for stopping by!

OLW Inspiring Minds

Sorry for the terrible pictures today! I've been wanting to get (or make) a light tent for indoor photos....any suggestions?

I really love this week's One Layer Wednesday Challenge- to be inspired by one of the cards from this site. Here's the card I chose:

I love the idea of using an ornament for the O in the sentiment, so I did the same in my one layer card:

When I was finished, I decided it needed more color, so here's what I did with it:

Flashback Friday 5.0

It's time again for another Flashback Friday from Amy's wonderful blog! This time, the task is to re-post the first card made with a new-to-you technique. For this card (originally posted here this past February) I used an emboss resist technique. Instead of inking over my heat embossed design, I chose to use watercolors and paint a simple (and quick!) tree:

If you havn't yet, you should definitely check out the Flashback Friday and participate- it's always so much fun!

Noel

Ok, I think this is the last card for today! :)

Again, this one is for 2 challenges. The layout came from this week's CPS challenge, and the idea for the poinsettias is from the EtsyInspired Challenge. This week's shop is Queen of Tart Cakes, and I found these cookies there:

So pretty, right? (By the way, it took me three tries then a trip to Google to figure out how to spell "poinsettia"- and it STILL looks weird to me!)

I cut the flowers from red toned vellum, and used eyelets for the centers- which also attached them to the front panel. Then I went back in with gold puffy paint to add the little dots. Thanks for putting up with all my posts today, and Happy Thanksgiving (eve!)!

2S4Y Laura's 66

Sorry for the massive number of posts today- I'm trying to get this all done before work since I'm leaving to go visit my in-laws as soon as school lets out (half day!), and I won't be back til Sunday. This next card is for this week's 2S4Y challenge, using the sketch above. I made this card for a special person, and I will post about it sometime in the next week or 2. Until then, you'll have to live in suspense!

Wreath of Joy

Hello again! This card is actually for 2 challenges. I made it with the layout from EBTKS in mind, and it's also my 2nd attempt at a card for Embellish Magazine, using the colors found on their blog. I really love how this one came out, and it was my first time using chipboard letters!

Color Cue {10}

At the Wplus9 design blog, the challenge is to use any member of the design team's chosen colors to make a card/project. I was instantly drawn to Kerianne's colors- lime green, dark green, white, and black. Click the link above to check out the other color palettes....I'm also in love with Elise's!

Embellish Holidays

The Embellish Magazine challenge this time around is to use the above colors in a holiday project. I don't usually gravitate towards pink, especially for a holiday card, so this one was a little tricky for me. I ended up using a favorite plaid paper of mine which covered the pink and brown, then added touches of red and green. Here's how it came out:

rest a minute

I hope you guys don't mind those days (like today) when I post a bunch of stuff in a row!

This card is for this week's Tuesday Trigger. I stamped the damask pattern, ruffled the red ribbon, and used rub-ons for the chair and sentiment. Thanks for checking it out!

a colourQ Noel

Although this color palette from colourQ screams "Autumn," I knew I wanted to make a holiday card. I decided to focus mostly on the olive and raspberry colors, and use the mustard and orange sparingly. I die cut the tree and star, and stamped the sentiment (cool sentiment, huh? I love that font!!)
