OCC World Card Making Day!

(for the MTE October Stamp release, scroll down or click here)

It's World Card Making Day! Awesome! I'm hoping I have time to make some today, although my husband and I are going into Boston for a food festival. Should be a fun day no matter what!

Lori is our host this week at Our Creative Corner, and in honor of WCMD, the challenge is to make a project that is inspired by a country other than your own. I wanted to do something a little unexpected, so as I was brainstorming, I remembered a project I did

in 5th or 6th grade. We had to research a foreign country and prepare a presentation. I was assigned Argentina, and I remember sewing their flag (with help from my grandma) to bring to my presentation. It was so cool! It was the first time I ever used a sewing machine too.

For those of you not up on your Argentinian culture (umm...probably a lot of you), here's what their flag looks like:

and here's my card:

This one is getting entered in this week's challenge at SSS.

I hope you enjoy World Card Making Day....make sure to check us out over at OCC to join in the fun!

make a big wish.

(this is my 3rd post today...if you're looking for the SP and Co giveaway post, click HERE)

I'm so glad I was able to find time to play with the embellish challenge, above. I don't own any spray mists, so I went with paint.

I drew the butterfly onto some bristol paper, went over my sketch lines with a fine black marker (micron), then painted it in with watercolors.

I almost didn't want to post it, because I know I could do a better job with the butterfly if I tried harder, hehe. I guess you should just squint when you look at it, to blur out the imperfections (or maybe I'm the only one that sees them? Let's hope...)

keep the sun in your heart

Here's a last-minute card for the current Lawnscaping challenge, "getting texty."

The background cloud, sun, and sentiment are all Lawn Fawn, and the little plane is from an Amy Tangerine set I got today! I thought the cuteness of it went so well with the cuteness of Lawn Fawn :)

Mostly Monochromatic

I just made a fun and easy card for this week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays. The theme is "Mostly Monochromatic." I used 3 shades of pink and brown...and of course lots of white space!

I made the vine by die cutting about 5 layers of my Corn Chex cereal box and gluing them together. I learned this technique today for Make it Monday! I love the dimension.

Papertrey September Blog Hop Challenge

I'm loving the rainbow stripes on the inspiration pic below:

The PTI September blog hop is focusing on that beautiful floor today, and I was so glad I had time to play along after getting home from a weekend in NY!

I turned to my favorite embellishment- embroidery floss!

Since the lovely sentiment takes center stage, I'm also linking up for this week's OLW challenge.

So glad you could stop by! I can't wait to check out the other cards on the hop :)

YCU Challenge #2

Wow.....we are so thrilled with the turnout for the first Young Crafters Unite challenge! We saw some beautiful projects from some amazing crafters who are young, new to crafting, and young at heart. Thanks to those who played along!

Our challenge this month is to make a card with an envelope to match. I have to confess I had a realllly tough time photographing this. I think it's because it had subtle detail that I didn't want to get lost in the pic.

I used my new impression plate for the first time, and chose to ink it up before rolling it through for a letterpress effect. I love the soft, delicate look! I used the same technique for the envelope, using the other side of the plate. (reminds me of Aimes...she just posted about using the other, less-often-used side of an impression plate)

Here's a close up of the inked impression:
I hope you play along, because we have a great prize from our sponsor:

The lovely DT has some great inspiration for you too!:

I'd love to see your projects uploaded at YCU :)

Winners!

(you can find my DT post for My Thoughts Exactly here)

The winners have been posted from the SP and Company blog hop! I actually had 2 winners pulled from my blog:

Sylvia
and
Susan (rainy)

Ladies, head over the the SP and Co Blog to see what you've won! There are other winners posted over there too, so if you commented on anyone else's blog during the hop, you'll want to check it out too! You might be a winner :)

DT Thursday...cupcakes!

Today is my day to post for My Thoughts Exactly. I hope you all saw that I added a new icon in my sidebar for our upcoming blog hop!

I have a set of 3 mini cards to share...the sentiments in the Sweet Thoughts set are the perfect size for mini cards!

I added some glitter to each of the cupcakes. Although tough to see in the straight-on picture, you can see it better below:
I've been doing more coloring on my cards recently too, and I am by no means skilled at it! I don't have Copics (I know you know that already....but just wanted to mention it in case there were some new visitors), so I'm limited to colored pencils. Sometimes I'm happy with how it comes out, and sometimes I'm not. This time, I think it went okay, hehe.

Make sure to visit my DT-mate Jessica, to check out what she made too!

DT Wed- Wishing You...

Good morning!

As you probably know, I just love the SP and Co Bold Sentiments set. Well, below is Bold Sentiments II- these ones are holiday sentiments!

I teamed these stamps with the sketch challenge over at Lily Pad Cards. It's sponsored by Hero Arts...I only have like 2 HA stamp sets, so sadly I am not using any of their products on this card. The sketch is a great one....so make sure to head to Lily Pad to check it out!

I used embossed the ornament, and colored in the raised bumps with a glitter pen. I then added a piece of jewelry chain- I love the extra sparkle!

Hope you have a great Wednesday,

a quickie

I'm pretty much ready for bed, but wanted to upload this card to be included for the current One-Layer Wednesday challenge.
Goodnight!

Inspired x2

This morning I made a card for this week's CASE Study challenge, a card by Julie Lacey. I love the kraft with black and white, the trees, and that ribbon. When I saw it, I immediately thought of a dress from the Libertine Spring 2012 Collection!

By the way, (in case you didn't know), I LOVE fashion. Check out my Etsy shop (link in sidebar) for proof. I love watching runway shows, I love Project Runway, and I love looking at beautiful clothes online. Not like I own any of them or anything. My budget dictates that I buy clothes from H&M. Or Marshalls. Or other cheapo places.

Well anyway, back to the fashion. This past week was New York Fashion Week. I have literally been spending all of my free time on line checking out every collection that walked every runway. I'm a bit obsessed. Which is why when I saw the CASE Study card, I knew I wanted to draw inspiration from it and that cool Libertine dress. Here's the result:

I think it would be cool if there was a challenge site that took inspiration from fashion. How does one go about starting a challenge blog anyway? Maybe one of you smarties out there will do it, and I'll totally play along....or you can put me on the DT :)

I'm a reject!

You know what that means!!

Yep, another round of Reject Blog Hopping goodness! I submitted some projects (6, I think?) to the most recent call for Papercrafts Magazine. I'm thrilled to announce that 2 got picked up. Woohoo!!!

Below is my favorite of the ones that didn't make the cut. I thought for sure PC would love the simple and clean lines. I know I do!

Ahhh...this one just makes me smile! I'm sad it wasn't chosen, but I know it will be welcomed among the other rejects on Amber's hop. Thanks Amber!
