2013

Well, here we are- the end of 2013.  It's been a good one!!  Here are some things that happened this year....

  • I was invited to try out to be a Go-To Gal!  Although I didn't make the cut, I was honored to have been selected to participate, and to have made it quite far in the process
  • The lovely gals at Online Card Classes continue to ask me to be a guest teacher...I love it, and I love making videos!
  • Speaking of videos, my YouTube channel is finally starting to see some action :)
  • I participated in the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol competition for the third year in a row!  And I lost...for the 3rd year in a row...haha
  • I was crowned as Stamping Royalty! (see pic below)
  • I contributed to the 2014 Hero Arts Catalog!! Oh my gosh! I'm so happy to be in it.
  • I finished grad school!  Not only am I proud to be a Master of Music (ooh, cool title), but I won't be taking classes this summer...so that means more crafting! :)

Below are all of the projects I blogged about this year (of course there were other things I made that never appeared at Our Change of Art, but this is most of it).  I used a web service to make the collages- hopefully you will be able to see a larger photo of each project by rolling your mouse over it.

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas, everyone! Sorry if my post looks weird, I'm at my in-laws, so I'm writing this up on the iPad.

Just wanted to pop in and share one last holiday card, and to confess that I didn't even come close to making a card inspired by each of Kristina's holiday series cards.  (I think I got through Day 15) Oh well!  There's always next year :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Mama Elephant Feature

Good morning!  Just wanted to let y'all know that I have a card featured over on the Mama Elephant blog today!  Here's a little sneak:

...By the way, in the post I explain about why/how I made the background for the card.  Please read over at their blog, then come back and download the files if you wish! (right-click to view full resolution and download).  Merry Christmas!

Mama Elephant - XOXO

Today is the last day of stamp highlights over at Mama Elephant.  Today we are featuring the modern set, XOXO:

I heat embossed the little hearts- I love how they are more concentrated at the top and seem to trickle down the length of the stamp (but still in an orderly fashion, hehe).  I ended up doubling the foam tape on the banner so that it would really stick out.

Please go check out the Mama Elephant blog for more XOXO goodness!

Mama Elephant - Love Quotes

Good morning!  Today I'm joining Mama Elephant and their design team to feature one of the new stamp sets, Love Quotes:

I chose to focus on just one of the sentiments (although I am totally in love with those hand drawn speech bubbles!).  I cut some patterned paper to isolate the heart pattern, then covered the lower layer with some vellum to mute it just a bit.

Please don't forget to visit the Mama Elephant blog to see the lovely projects from their DT! :)

Holiday Cards!

Did you think I forgot about my little challenge to make cards inspired by Kristina Werner?  I didn't forget...I have just had no time to post them!  As is, this is my third post today, and I've got more lined up for this week (I've been a busy bee!).

To keep things brief and sweet, I'll link to Kristina's card from her Holiday Card Series, show you my interpretation, and a little blurb on what inspired me.  I encourage you to go check hers out!!

Inspired by Day 7: Copic coloring, window, acetate

Inspired by Day 8:  Snowflakes, soft colors, shimmer

Inspired by Day 9:  Tree, dots (bokeh), "noel" sentiment

(yes, that's Dave and I! I took this pic using the camera remote my brother got me for my birthday)

Inspired by Day 10: Layout, white card base, banner

PLEASE NOTE:  I used Nina's amazing new Avery Elle die to make the sweet pocket on the card!!

Inspired by Day 11: It's an envelope! (haha, that really is the only way I was inspired)

I made the envelope to fit the "Noel" photo card above, since it is an odd size.

Inspired by Day 12: Stripes and colors

Do you like that gold paper?  Check out what I used!:

Inspired by Day 13:  This one evolved pretty far from Kristina's...but I was inspired by a single focal point, and a panel 3D mounted to a card base of the same color
PLEASE NOTE:  I used Nina's die here as well to make the window cutout!  I used 2 different bracket dies- one on the top and one on the bottom, and used my paper cutter to slice between them. I love it!  You can download the tree image HERE.

Inspired by Day 14: White on kraft!

Phew! Thanks for sticking with me!  Goodnight :)

Mama Elephant - Pandamonium

Today, Mama Elephant is featuring the hilariously cute set, Pandamonium (love the name!)

Just look at that little guy - the banner is so big and he can barely hold it....aw!! (oh my, this may be the only time you ever see me type "aw" on my blog!!)

I'm sure there are more amazing pandalicious projects at the Mama Elephant blog, so be sure to visit them.  Thanks for stopping by!

I love that lime green as a fresh Christmas color.  I used die cutting and some vellum (along with heat embossing) to create the bell focal point.

The sentiment was stamped in grey ink to keep everything nice and soft.

I hope you choose to play along with the challenge - there's a great prize up for grabs from Ellen Hutson, and you'll have an extra week to link up!  We have a fantastic guest designer, and awesome cards from the DT...so get moving! :)

Hero Arts 2014 Catalog Blog Hop (and a video!)

(for my Mama Elephant post, please scroll down!)

Oh my, I cannot believe it.  Pinch me!  I was asked to take part in the 2014 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop!  However, the coolness doesn't stop there- I actually contributed to the catalog as well!  :)  I feel so honored to be in there with the "greats."

Hopefully you arrived from the amazing Julie Ebersole's blog....I'll bet she just wowed you!  I'm going to share my video first, and if you don't have time to watch it you can scroll right on down to the cards.

(you can view the video in HD on YouTube)

The first card uses the new set called "Yay," which is probably my favorite of the bunch!  I can already tell that I'll be grabbing this set a lot as my go-to for congrats cards.  I started by watercoloring the background, then stamped the sentiments in grey.  I made sure to leave some room for the black "congrats."

Kind of impossible to see above- there is some Wink of Stella on the black strip!

The second card features a fully watercolored background, which I let dry and stamped the fun "Zebra Print" on top.  The sentiment ("Wild and Crazy") is heat embossed onto vellum, and 3D mounted to the front of the card:

I'm not sure which card I prefer! hehe.

***Giveaway***
Hero Arts will be giving away several prize packs, with winners randomly chosen from ALL of the blog hop comments received by midnight PST on Sunday, December 22

Your next stop is the wonderful Stephanie Klauck.  Remember- if you find a link that doesn't work, you can always hop back to the Hero Arts Blog for a list of direct links to all the blogs in the hop.
