Iron Craft Interview!

Chaitali, from Iron Craft, recently invited me to participate in one of her video interviews!  It was a lot of fun to get to talk about crafting (along with other things, including Altenew!)...but I have to admit that I was a bit nervous too!

I hope you take some time to check out the video...there's another awesome crafter in it with me, and you have a chance to win a great prize if you leave a comment!

Here's a little look at the cards I made:

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Whaaa? A scrapbook page? (and a video!)

Well, no pictures, not project life.  More of a memory book page.

It's not my favorite thing I've ever made, but it was a big step for me. Check out the video for more details!

Hey there! I'm just popping in to share my card for the current Runway Inspired Challenge.

source: style.com

The birds in her dress got me thinking about Escher's Day and Night:

So I went ahead and designed a file for my digital die cutter, and here's the result:

Yes, for the second time in a row I was a rebel and didn't use the colors in the inspiration photo- remember, you can be inspired in any way and matching colors is not necessary :)

The background was watercolored onto smooth bristol, and each little die cut piece was adhered on top with foam tape (in the close-up shot above, you can see underneath the birds to the foam).  I kept the sentiment nice and simple, so it wouldn't compete with the rest of the card.

Please check out the rest of the DT!

"you need more patterned paper"

My friend Wida recently left a comment on my blog, which included the statement, "you need more patterned paper in your life, you use it so well."

Not only is that an incredible compliment, coming from a woman who excels in the use of patterned paper, but it also made me laugh.  I have LOTS of patterned paper in my life- it just doesn't often end up on my projects!

In an attempt to use up some stash, I made this card:

The floral centerpiece was cut from patterned paper...although I got impatient partway through the cutting process! (booo...sloppy cutting!) It was tricky to get around all of those tight spots.  The sentiment is from Super Script, and I stamped it on a strip of cardstock mounted above and beneath the cut flowers.

This card was certainly a departure for me, but I like how it came out.  For a more traditional "Jen" card, please check out the Altenew blog! :)

the strangest (yet most fun!) video ever :)

So, the other day I had this idea....what if I made a card video, but somehow had Dave (my husband) involved?  Not sure how, but I convinced him to join me in the most recent Papertrey Ink challenge!

We filmed last Sunday, but had MANY technical issues, and what I present to you is by no means a polished and/or professional video.  But, it sure was fun to make!  Dave even agreed to do it again sometime, if the response is positive.

And if there is a next time, I promise we will try our best to work out the kinks! (shaky cameras, poor lighting, quiet voices, cameras turning off randomly, video way to long, etc.)  Well, enough gabbing...on with the show! :)

Here's a closer look at our finished cards:

We take no offense if you didn't watch the whole video- we understand it was too long! lol.  Thanks for humoring us, and of course for stopping by!

Good morning!  Today there's a brand spankin' new challenge up at the Runway Inspired Challenge.  Check it out:

I'm drawn to this outfit because of the clean lines, sharp contrast, and graphic circles (although I wouldn't wear this one! hehe).  I kept all of those elements, and just switched up the color combo:

I really like how it came out!  And it was certainly a labor of love- die cutting those circles was tedious...they all had to get lined up, and I had to run each panel through the machine 10 times!  (ps...one circle is slightly mis-aligned...can you tell which one?)

Please visit my lovely DT, then play along with our challenge for a chance to win a gift card to Pretty Pink Posh!
