Jest for the Pun of it

When I saw this week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays, I knew I had to play along!  The theme is "Jest for the Pun of it," and I have LOTS of amazing pun stamps from My Thoughts Exactly!

My card uses a cute sentiment from the "Under the Sea" set:

By the way, I made that little fish hook with some jewelry wire.

By the way (again)...I think I have come to love glitter.  I never thought I'd ever say that!

Best of Luck

Just a quick post for SP and Company:

I used the new mini set, Lucky Mini.  Sorry for the lack of posting in the last few days- I had family visiting from out of town, and it was great spending lots of time with them!

Hope you have a great day :)

YCU Challenge #7

(scroll down for my Hambly sketch project)

Today there is a new challenge over at Young Crafters Unite....this time we are making clear cards!

And here's what I did:

My card base is clear, as well as the accent that says "make me happy."  It used to say "makes me happy," but that wouldn't work out with the rest of my sentiment, so I scratched off the "s."

Now, go check out what the rest of the DT made!

I hope you find time to play along...you've got a chance at a $25 GC to Simon Says Stamp!

Hambly Sketch Challenge! (and a painting)

Today at the Hambly Screen Prints blog there is a sketch challenge!  The gals on the DT all made projects to go along with the sketch below:

Wow, that is a beautiful sketch!  The only problem was...I make cards. And this is clearly a scrapbooking layout!  So I completely pared it down to the basics, and came up with this card set:

I hope the sketch inspires you to get crafty too!  Check out all of the details at the Hambly blog  :)

One more thing- I made a painting yesterday inspired by one of the new Fall 2012 looks.  (I hope it doesn't bother any of you that I occasionally post non-card related crafts!)

Now, this chick has a glittery belt, and as much as I tried, I couldn't get the painting to look glittery (see above).  So I did  the next best thing:

(btw, some people ask why the girls I paint don't have faces.  There are 2 reasons.  1. I paint fashion illustrations, so I want the focus to be on the clothes and not the girls.  2. Faces are hard to paint!  Whenever I try to paint a face, it comes out a bit funny.  I think I have only posted two or three paintings on this blog that had faces.  If you want to see them, you'll have to go on a hunt through the archives!)

a thank you card (and other things)

Hello!  Today is my day to post for SP and Company, and I have a card using one of my favorite sentiments from Bold Sentiments I.

After I finished the card, I wished I had used different colors.  Oh well.

Now onto other things.

  • Yesterday, I posted a tutorial on the Hambly Screen Prints Blog for making your own no-sew pincushion.  (I realize now how funny that is....if you are the type of person who likes "no-sew" projects, you probably don't need a pincushion...)  Check it out HERE

  • Early in February, I won my first Hero Arts Contest!  I realize now that I never posted the winning card.  Here it is:

  • Speaking of cards I've made and never posted, here's a card I made for my brother back in September.  It references the amazing game Portal....if you know the game, then you appreciate the outside of the card, and will likely find the inside hilarious.  If you don't know the game, look up the premise HERE:
 This is a "companion cube"

Haha.

4U

Sorry for posting twice in one day....I really try to avoid that if I can!  Scroll down or click here for my Runway Inspired Challenge post.

Here's a fun card/gift card holder I made with some Hambly goodies.  I just love that patterned paper with the birds on it, and was so excited when I discovered that the birds rub-on matches up with it perfectly!

I'm entering this card into the patterned paper challenge at LilyPad cards :)

ric#6

Good morning!  Tuesday is always my favorite day of the week when it is a Runway Inspired Challenge day!

Check out this cool chick below, from the Maxime Simoens Spring 2012 Couture show:

source: style.com

She looks like she's from the future or something.  I love the mosaic-like top, her shiny shorts, and the awesome silver accents on her arm bands and shoes.  She's also rocking a high ponytail!

I knew I had the perfect shiny blue fabric in my stash to represent the shorts, and I scored silver cardstock to mimic the squares in her top.  I used the same fabric technique I shared HERE during the Gallery Idol competition (which is where I first became friends with some of the ric DT members!!)- so click over for the how-to.

The DT is using fabric today, because our sponsor is the Fat Quarter Shop, and they are offering an amazing fabric prize.  Go to the Runway Inspired Challenge blog to see what it is!

I know you'll just love what everyone else made, so make sure to visit them:

Time for a flashback!

As you guys probably know, I love playing along with Amy's Flashback Friday challenges, and this is their 20th challenge....congrats, Amy!

Post your first Black and White card

I still like mine, which was originally posted here in January 2010.  Although, check out the cheesy "staging":

Haha, yea...that's totally my fine china, lol.

Lucky

Hello again!

Today I have a card and a project to share.  My card uses this cute little set from SP and Company:

And my project is something I made in December, yet I don't think I ever posted it.  It's not paper, which is probably why.   I sewed a journal cover for a coworker of mine:

...and here's what it looks like on the inside, without the journal.

I used a tutorial I found HERE to make it.  Thanks for stopping by!

PTI 5th Anniversary - Day 10

I'm so happy I had time to play along with today's challenge at Papertrey Ink!  They just released a really awesome set of dies called "Movers and Shakers" that are templates for interactive cards.  I wonder why no one has thought of that before!

I've only really made one interactive card before (in 2010....check it out here), so it was about time I made another.

One of the new PTI dies makes a card with a zipper pull....I did the poor-man's version, using an x-acto knife to make perforations in the front panel.

If you're curious about what happens when you pull the tab, here's a picture of what the card looked like before I assembled it:

I'm a Cover Girl!

No, not a CoverGirl....I've landed my first magazine publication cover!  I've known about it for awhile, but I didn't want to say anything until I actually got the issue in my hands.  Today was the day it came! (I've been so patiently waiting!)

Yeppers, that box is mine! Yay!  Now I can check "magazine cover" off of my infinitely long list of things to do in my life :)

While I'm here, I've got a Valentine's Day card for my husband (good thing he doesn't read my blog...)

It's for my husband because we both love video games, and usually a pixellated heart is used to help you determine your HP (the amount of health your character has in the game).

I used my trusty paper cutter to make those vertical strips to weave the ribbon through, so this card is headed to the Moxie Fab World for the cutting and trimming challenge!  (I might try to upload a clearer pic of it if I can)

SP and Company February Release Blog Hop!

This month's color is Bright Red! After you're done hopping around today, make sure you play along with this month's Red challenge (click here for details) for a chance to win some awesome SP and Company prizes!

Join us for our Release Celebration that is happening today and tomorrow on the SP Forum HERE.  You can talk to all of the designers, discuss projects and chit chat with other stampers!

Don't forget that the random prize patrol is watching so leave a comment on every blog to be eligible for the prizes!!

Today, I'm featuring 2 of the new sets, Easter Bunny Sentiment, and Lucky Mini Set:

As you probably read above, the color theme for this blog hop is red.  It was so hard to try to use red on my cards!  The Easter sentiment makes me think of pastels, and the Lucky set NEEDS to be inked in green, right?  Well, I tried to get creative to get red to work, so here's what I made:

Make sure you check out the SP Blog to see what Samantha did with the new stamps! We also have the Stamp Team and the Challenge Team teaming up today to show you lots of amazing projects with the newest stamp sets!
