OLW: Unexpected colors

Today's Halloween card is for this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge- to use unexpected colors on a card.

My goal was to avoid orange/black, so I used pinky red and a brownish-green. My stamps didn't stand out much on their own, so I outlined the images with a thin black marker.

rain, rain, go away

Today's color inspiration comes from colourQ, although I had trouble finding paper that matched from my collection. So I worked with what I had, and here's the result:

Celebrate (an engagement!)

I made this card this morning because a friend of mine recently got engaged. I used the sketch above, from 2S4Y for my layout (flipped sideways). The bottom is made from layered strips of patterned paper, and I stitched around the sides and top to fill in some of that white space. Here it is:

When I finished, I realized it also works for this week's CPS sketch. Bonus!

Craft Fair!

Hey, if anyone is reading this from MA, just wanted to let you know that I am doing my first "real" craft fair tomorrow at SOWA Open Market, Boston. Check it out if you're in town!

Button Pinwheel

Here's one more card for the EBTKS challenge. I had already made this card, utilizing many buttons, but I really wanted to make a card where a button was an accent, not the focus. I really hope it's okay to submit 2 cards! I've been really into making pinwheels, so I was excited to make this card:

Hope you like it! :)

CAS-tastic

The challenge this week at CAS-tastic is Bling it Up. I don't often use glitter on my cards, and I only occasionally use rhinestones, but for this challenge I combined the two to make a bling-y card. The paper has glitter laced throughout (see the close-up photo), and I added 2 blue rhinestones. I felt I had to offset all of the sparkle with simple black and white. Here is the result:

Square Outlines

The theme for this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge is to make a square card, and use an outline stamp. I think I bought this stained glass stamp about 5 years ago, on clearance for 2 bucks, and I have never used it! It really isn't my style, but I knew it would be perfect for this challenge. I colored in only the outside of the stamp, and added a little embroidery floss bow to finish it off.
