Happy Saturday morning! Always one of my favorite times of the week. Even as a kid, I looked forward to Saturday morning cartoons!! :)
And now, Saturday mornings mean a new challenge at Our Creative Corner! Our host this week, Sarah Gough, designed an amazing sketch for us to use this week:
I'm new to distressing, so it was fun to experiment on this week's card. I inked the edges and sponged brown ink onto 2 different patterned papers to age them. (See the striped paper in the background behind my card? That's how the the bottom paper looked when I started!). After I adhered them, I stitched around the border of my card, and pulled/rolled back some of the edges. My only wish is that I did more distressing! I think that since I was a first-timer, I held back.
I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's distressed creations this week! Link 'em up at Our Creative Corner!
Jennifer this is a lovely card. Plaids usually get me! I love the way you weaved the threads through the doily. And yes, the buttons are wonderful too! Love the vellum sentiment. I've been meaning to use that since I saw it on PTI. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteReally pretty card - yep, I love the buttons! :) And the rest of it as well - your take on the sketch is gorgeous and you did a great job with the distressing!
ReplyDeleteLoved this from the moment I first saw it on the DT blog! Love the doily and how you stamped directly on it! The buttons are a great touch!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work, Jennifer. Everything is beautiful - the colors, the paper, the image and the buttons - yum! I can't believe that you have never distressed your work before! I can't make anything without some sort of distressing. Hope you had fun and will be back using distressing again.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Hugs,
Linda
