Where I've Been

I feel like I haven't been posting as frequently as usual. If you follow me, you might remember that I was recently sick. Thankfully I'm feeling better, and quickly got back to crafting.

I have not recently made many cards for friends/family/challenges, since I have been working on wedding placecards for my friend. She is getting married this weekend, and I had the honor of making them! I custom designed the die-cutting file for the "frame" of the card, and made the rest match her invitations- same font; same snowflake image. (and yes, that is my/my husband's card in front!!) I made over 70 of these, which might not seem like much, but you must remember:
1. I work full time, and also teach music lessons afterwards
2. I love spending free time playing video games
3. I'm a perfectionist, and very slow at things that are important!
So you see, this took up a lot of my crafting time. I'm hoping to get back in the swing of things, starting with my post for Our Creative Corner on Saturday...see you then!

One more thing- below is what I was left with after making the place cards...any idea of what I can do with them?

Make it Mondays (again?)

Yes, I'm back (just like I said I would be) with another post for Papertrey Ink's Make it Mondays. This card and the other one I made are super similar. Why didn't I post them together? Well, I normally would have, but the rules state that each entry must have it's own url. I think I like how this one turned out better!

If I have time this week, you might see another entry from me for this challenge. Is it because the prize is awesome? You betcha! Go check it out if you haven't yet!!

Make it Mondays!

Wow! Papertrey Ink has a new thing going on- Make it Mondays. This seems like it will be a lot of fun! The challenge is to check out the video and make a card using the same technique. This week, Erin Lincoln showed us how to use multiple sentiments grouped together on a card. Here's my take:

The black sentiment is heat embossed to make it stand out a but more than the others, which I stamped with VersaMark. Although the whole front panel is one layer, I added the embroidery floss to make it look like the banner is separate. Thanks for checking it out!

PS I have another card very similar to this that I'm posting in a minute....

CPS 203

Hey all! Above is this week's sketch from CPS, and I think I literally have like 12 minutes to post this before the deadline! I will be short and sweet. Here's my card:

OCC Branch Out

It's time for another challenge at Our Creative Corner! Our host this week, Lori Rider, has challenged us to make a clean and simple card incorporating a tree.

For my card, I took a dark grey cardstock panel, and freehand painted the white trees with acrylic paint. It was a quick and easy way to get a nice bold image. The red birds were added next- I cut them from red cardstock, then heat embossed the sentiment. The final touch comes from the red embroidery floss- you know how much I love it!

Thanks for checking it out, and I hope you join us this week at Our Creative Corner!

Lawnscaping Part Deux

I've got one more for the Lawnscaping challenge. Again, we had to CASE Kelly Alvarez, so I used her card below for inspiration.

Instead of sewing the butterfly trail, I drew it on with a gel pen. Also, I used a real doily, and changed the shape of the card. Here's the result:

Lawnscaping

I made today's card for the Lawnscaping challenge. The hearts below the umbrella were stamped from the raindrop stamp! I used it upside-down, and after I stamped it once, I went back and stamped each again in the other direction. Perfect little hearts! Here it is (sorry for the bad pic):

The challenge was to CASE Kelly Alvarez, so below is her card that I drew my inspiration from. Very cute!
