Another peek at Altenew

I hope you have been keeping up with the sneak peeks over on the Altenew blog.   The other day we previewed 2 stamp sets, and here is a card I made using the set from peek #8!!

Super CAS...I like it!!  I stamped the wood veneer people straight onto my white card base, and colored them in with my lightest grey marker.  Then, I stamped, colored, and cut out the little heart and adhered it to the base with foam tape.  I am in LOVE with the little wood veneer icons in the set, and I cannot wait to show you more!

Don't forget to "like" our Facebook page so you can keep up-to-date on Altenew happenings, and see even more projects from myself, Tasnim, and our guest designers! :)

selling a few things

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I am selling 3 flat-rate boxes full of goodies over on my facebook page.  They cost $75, including Priority shipping to the US.  You can check out the contents of each box HERE.

Each box contains around 18-20 full stamp sets, plus embellishments and more.  I'd say approx. 75% of the product is brand new.  Just let me know if you are interested!

the day is finally here!!

I have a HUGE announcement to make today!  I have been hinting at this for quite a few weeks on my blog, and maybe you have already figured it out.

In addition to making cards, I love to draw and paint.  I doodle on everything...yes, even on the "notes" I take in classes and meetings! (lol)  Every once in a while I would draw something and think about how awesome it would be as a stamp- but the thought never got much further than that.  Friends and family told me that I should start designing stamps, but I never thought anyone (other than myself) would actually want them.

Well, my friend Tasnim Ahmed started to design stamps for herself, and I was so impressed with her designs that I just HAD to know more!  She said she was considering starting a stamp company, and that is when I confessed that I always wanted to design stamps - but I was too scared.

Well, I'm sure you can figure out the rest of the story:  Tasnim helped give me the courage I needed and we decided to design together!!!

The company is called Altenew, and the site went live today!  I cannot wait for everything to be available in the shop, but until then you should definitely check it out.  You can find some sneak peeks of 2 of our upcoming sets on the blog :)

Please make sure to like the Facebook page and follow us on Pinterest!

Below you will find 2 cards that I have already posted using some of our sets, as well as a brand new card!  Woohoo!!!

I hope you are as excited as I am!!!!

Good morning, and happy Runway Inspired Challenge Day!

source: style.com

Oh my gosh, I cannot get enough of this outfit.  Well, I guess just the skirt (I don't think I'd wear a crop top, or a furry jacket....but my hair DOES look like that in the morning! lol).  The skirt is like a beautiful stained glass window...I'm so jealous and want that in my closet!! :)

A few weeks ago I teased you all with THIS post.  Well, here's another peek at some things I have been working on...

I PROMISE you will find out more soon...we are in the home stretch, and I am so excited!!! :)

I stamped and embossed the skyline in black, then colored it in with Copics.   I didn't realize that the black embossing would bleed! It still turned out okay, but I wish the colors stayed pure.  Dos anyone have any tips for coloring over embossed images? (I still consider myself a Copic newbie! lol)

Good morning!  Today there is a new Runway Inspired Challenge up...and it's an elegant one!

source: style.com

I'm totally digging that metallic shine, and the damask-ish pattern on the top made me think of letterpress!  I had about 4 failed attempts at doing faux letterpress:  I inked up an embossing folder and ran it through the machine...and each time it came out splotchy.  I have successfully done this in the past on regular cardstock, but I think the pearly cardstock I was using didn't want to take the ink.

New plan!

First, I embossed the image onto my shiny cardstock.

Next, I took a fine Sharpie and patiently colored everything in.

Oh yea- then I did it AGAIN, because I decided I didn't like the tree centered on the card.

This is another one of those "it-looks-better-in-person" kind of deals.  It really gives the impression of letterpress!

To make the sentiment, I die cut the "hello" 3 times in black and glued those together.  Next, I die cut it with the shimmer cardstock, then embossed that with the same tree folder for some added texture.  You can see the black underneath the letters in the pic below:

I really hope you play along - the prize this time around is from Simon Says Stamp!
