YCU Challenge #12

Hey folks, there's a new challenge up today at Young Crafters Unite!

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like buttons were REALLY big a while back, and now I don't see them on people's projects as often.  Well, we're bringing them back this month!!

Here's my card, which was somewhat inspired by Laura's card here.  I loved that she had a cutout, and that soft grey color.

Please visit my friends to see what they made with buttons:
Chari
Danielle
Stephanie
Britta (also, win a spot in her class here!)

Indulge Yourself

(please scroll down or click here for a chance to win a seat in Design Principles!)

Today I have a non-card project for you!  I'm not a big wine drinker, so I was trying to come up with other ways to use my amazing new bottle tag die from Clear and Simple Stamps.  I ended up with a fun gift for someone who likes to pamper themselves:

What better to give with a bottle of lotion than a gift card to the Body Shop?!  Because of the colors, my project is headed over to CAS-ual Fridays (cool that the green gift card fits in with the color scheme, right? pure coincidence....)

CSS goodies used on my gift card holder:

Design Principles Class Seat Giveaway!

Subject: Design Principles Class Seat Giveaway!

Today, I get to give away a spot for Britta Swiderski's Design Principles class! It's just getting started over on her website, and I'm one of the guest designers! Here's a little bit more information on the class:

Design Principles is a class taught by Britta Swiderski where she shares the lessons she has learned in her college design classes and brings them to you in a language that we all speak – papercrafting! This class will nourish your understanding of good design and give you the ability to “talk design” when you see a card (or layout or advertisement or painting!) that gets your creativity flowing. This class consists of 5 and a half weeks of classes dedicated to making design part of your everyday life and creativity with more than 40 videos, dozens of card examples and a fun class setting that will inspire you on a daily basis.

To enter to win a seat in this class, comment below and I will draw a winner on Sunday evening. I can't wait to see you over at class. It's going to be a really fun time! If you already have a seat in the class, feel free to leave a comment - you can always gift your seat to a deserving friend!

4th of July Card

I just realized that I never got around to posting the 4th of July card I made!  This card got mailed to Jessica, because she is the only person I know who sends out 4th of July cards like it was Christmas or something!  Isn't that the sweetest?

I used some fun goodies from the latest Clear and Simple Stamps release!

Runway Inspired Baby Shower!

Welcome to the very first Runway Inspired Challenge Baby Shower!

As you know, two of our amazing Design Team members had babies this month!  We couldn't be happier for them.   In their honor, we decided to throw them a baby shower...

On July 3rd, Sarah gave birth to the beautiful Evelyn, and just last Tuesday Cristina welcomed a new baby boy!

Now, this isn't going to be just any old shower...this will be the most fashionable baby shower you've ever been to.  The DT was inspired by 2 adorable looks from Dolce and Gabbana's childrenswear line, D&G Junior.

Here's the card I made for Sarah, inspired by that sweet little girl's outfit:

..and here's my card for Cristina:
(almost all product used on my cards is from CSS.  If I have time after class I'll link it all up!)

Please check out the cards from the DT:
(Angeline is away from home and therefore cannot participate, but she sends her best wishes!)

We'd love it if you could come to our baby shower too!  All you have to do is make a NEW BABY card inspired by one of the D&G Junior photos above, post it to your blog, and link it here or at the Runway Inspired Challenge.  You can find the details over there!

The other gals and I chipped in so you have a chance to win prizes too....there will be 2 $15 gift cards given away to random participants.  I hope you will join us!

Friendship Necklace

I had such high hopes of doing a bunch of the Stamp-A-Faire projects yesterday, but alas, was too busy to get past my first card.  Luckily, I had a bit of time this morning to make a friendship necklace.  Yes, I know that the challenge was to make a friendship bracelet, but once I made my hot pink beads, I REALLY wanted to see what they would look like as a necklace.   I really love it!

...and me, enjoying my new necklace:
(sorry for the blindingly harsh sunlight in the pic above!)

I hope I can squeeze in another project or 2 before tomorrow's deadline!

Stamp-a-Faire

I didn't think it was possible, but I might actually have a bit of time to participate in Stamp-a-Faire today!  I've got a LOAD of things to do today (errands, hw, etc), but if I can squeeze in some cards today I'll be a happy camper (cheesy camp-related pun not intended....)

Nicole made a card to inspire us, complete with a set of materials needed, and a how-to video...the designing was already done for me, so all I had to do was make the card.  I don't have the Stamp-a-Faire kit, so I just went with what I already have...

Wow, I'm realizing now how vibrant the pink photographed...its a bit more muted in real life!

Thanks for stopping by!

Make It Monday

I was SO happy to be able to find time this week to play with a challenge!  I had to take a little break from homework, but it was worth it.

The current Make It Monday was probably their toughest one yet...at least for me it was.   Using the "Roll the Die" worksheet (details found here), I ended up with this formula:
  • Orientation: Horizontal
  • Layout: Sketch #2
  • Stamp Set Image: Trendy Treetops
  • Stamp Set Sentiments: Signature Greetings
  • Color Combo: Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, Vintage Cream
  • Embellishment: Washi Tape
I was crafting over at Jessica's, which was awesome b/c she has more PTI stuff than I do :)  Here's what I ended up with....

Would you believe that it took me about 2 hours to make that card?!  I don't often work with so many colors and elements, so I was having a hard time incorporating everything while staying true to my style.  I think that after all of the working and re-working, I was finally able to come up with something I really like.  Hooray!

Hello Summer

Today I am using the newest mini set from My Thoughts Exactly, Hello Summer, on a sweet little tag:

I love that cute little sun, and the sentiment makes this tag just perfect for attaching to a summer party hostess gift. Thanks for visiting, and don't forget to check out the MTE July Challenge.....you still have a few days to enter!

CSS Group Project

For the Runway Inspired Challenge post, please scroll down!!

It's a holiday in July! This month's group project for the Clear and Simple Stamps DT is to make a project based around any winter holiday.  I went the Christmas route, and was inspired by the peppermint candies in  one of the newly released stamp sets! (links at end of post)

Check out my card and tag set:

....and a closer look of each....

Just looking at those candies makes me wish it was Christmas already!

There are a lot of talented girls posting today...I recommend you visit them all :)
