Online Card Class Giveaway!

This is going to be a quickie giveaway...so please comment ASAP! :)

Ever try a technique that ended up feeling just too complicated to use on a card (or worse multiple cards)? We’ve all been there! Happily, Online Card Classes is ready to help us take on that challenge with a little technique know-how!

Online Card Class instructors Kristina Werner, Jennifer McGuire, and Julie Ebersole are here Clean & Simple Card Making 4: Techniques Made Simple  In this all-video class, they’ll be sharing ideas for embossing, die cutting, and more… all with a Clean & Simple twist that will make the techniques more approachable and useable than ever. And guess what? I’m one of the guest artists in this class! How fun is that?

And now, one of you has the opportunity to attend Clean & Simple 4 for free! That’s right—I get to give away one spot in this fantastic class. Just leave a comment on this post by tonight at 11:59 p.m. EST to be eligible! Class starts tomorrow- Monday, January 26, 2015. Hope to see you there!

New Runway Inspired Challenge....yippee!!

I love this girl's outfit, but I really love her handbag!  The stark white stripes look pretty cool against the patterned background, so I decided to go in that direction for my card:

Don't forget- the Runway Inspired Challenge is not a color challenge- you can grab inspiration from anything in the photo!

I love the floral pattern on this paper, so I didn't want to add too much to distract from it. The sentiment is from Halftone Hello, and I stamped it in a soft pink chalk ink. Once I cut it out, I adhered it to my card with foam tape.  It felt like it needed something else, so I cut out an additional flower from one of my scraps, and popped that up too.

Hey hey!  Today there is a brand spankin' new Runway Inspired Challenge...and I just ADORE it!

Oh my, this chick looks great!  The fuchsia paired with the ornate beading is so cool.   I would want to bedazzle my own t-shirt to look like this, but I'd be worried about not being able to pull off the look...it could possibly go old lady if not styled properly!

Of course I needed to incorporate some rhinestones:

The flower is a die cut I designed (you might be seeing more of that flower in the near future, hintity hint!), and I cut it with my new Silhouette Cameo!  I mounted it, along with the rhinestones and die cut sentiment, to a piece of patterned cardstock.  The model's outfit has two slightly different shades of pink, so I also used distress ink to blend in some darker color near the bottom.

I really love the bright white against the other colors!

Please go visit the amazing DT (some girls are sitting out this week), and please play along!

2014

Whoops, this post should have gone up yesterday!

This year my blog saw the least amount of love since I started it years ago.  I created less cards than ever this year, and have apologized numerous times for my absences!  But, I'd say it was for good reason!  Here's what I was up to in 2014:

  • I started a stamp company (Altenew) with my friend Tasnim!  This was the biggest reason for the lack of card making - I have been designing stamp sets!  It's like a dream come true  :)  I took a lot of time to learn Illustrator, and feel like I am still trying to get the hang of it.  I've always been a paper-and-pencil person when it comes to sketching!
  • My friends Jennifer and Kristina keep asking me to teach at Online Card Classes- I love that!
  • Speaking of, I even hosted my own class!  What started out as an idea and an email to Jennifer McGuire (telling her that watercolor is awesome, and my ideas for the class) turned into Watercolor for Card Makers.  LOVE!
  • I also started teaching at Paper Crafters Library.  It's a great place with thousands of video tutorials, you should check it out!  If you were wondering why I have not updated YouTube in a while, it's because my videos keep going to OCC and PCL, hehe.
  • The Runway Inspired Challenge is going strong, and only days away from our 75th challenge! Thanks for all of the support :)

Here's an overview of the projects I blogged about this year - hover over the pics to view them larger (you may need to view this post on ourchangeofart.blogspot.com to see the collages). The ones with gold backgrounds are cards I made that were posted on the Altenew blog.

This year, I hope to get more videos posted to my YouTube channel, work on becoming a better photographer, post more to this blog, and *gasp* start scrapbooking!  Not sure if I'll share the scrapbook pages here, but I'll keep you all posted on how it goes.   Happy 2015!!
