CSS Group Project

I hope you caught the fun Release in Review last week at Clear and Simple Stamps! Today, we are joining forces once again to bring you this month's Group Project- "White Out."

As much as I adore white, it is hard to make an all-white card...but I was up for the challenge.  When making a monochromatic card, texture is your best friend. I incorporated texture both with negative die cutting, and the white embossing.

I really loved how it looked, but I couldn't help but wonder what it would look like with some color, so I made another and did some emboss resisting with ink:

CSS Release Review - Party Hop

Today we've got a fun party for you at Clear and Simple Stamps!  We are celebrating the Collection 4 release :)

Here's my little ensemble:

My card uses some Copic coloring (thanks Jessica for letting me use yours!), and I popped up the drinks/lemon with foam tape.

...here's the inside:

I loved the banner stamp so much, that I wanted to make a coordinating paper banner- I die cut circles, folded them in half, then glued them to a piece of twine. 

This last part might need some explaining....as I was stamping with my buddies Jessica and Suzanne (our CSS Guest Designer!), I was having trouble figuring out what to make to go with my card and banner.  I'm not sure exactly how it came up, but somehow I was dared to incorporate a lemon into my project!  (yes, apparently adults still dare eachother to do things...).   The lemon turned into the perfect place card for my food and drink BBQ party!

By the way, my husband and I are currently on vacation in Montreal! (my posts the last few days have been pre-scheduled).  Hopefully, as you read this, we are in good weather (before we left they were calling for rain....), enjoying some fun food, walking around the city, and taking lots of pictures. :)

Cloud9

Have you seen the new Cloud9 challenge?  My friend Suzanne started it because of her love for WPlus9.  This month's challenge is to use the sketch below on a card that uses WPlus9 stamps:

I have to be honest...this sketch stumped me- I was close to not even wanting to play along!

I was able to come with a card (after a miserable failed attempt), and here's the result:

If I had a third chance to go at it, I think I could have done even better!  I like the card, but I don't think I used the sketch very creatively.  Oh well!

CSS Review Day 5

Today is Day 5 of Clear and Simple Stamps' release review.  We are focusing on Sweet Treats + Favors.  I have a lot to show you today, since I couldn't stop making things with these awesome stamps and dies!

First I made a card and gift bag set.

I used various straight and zig-zag stitches for interest.

I LOVE the "Cheers" sentiment...maybe my British pals can help me out here, but I read online that you can use it to mean "thank you."  (BTW, British slang is hilarious- I have been watching "Spaced" on Netflix, and sometimes I don't understand what in the world they are saying!  Although I don't want to offend my friends across the pond, b/c you'll probably tell me that that show in no way reflects accurate British speaking.....it is a great show though! hehe)

CASE Study 2nd Anniversary Blog Hop!

I'm so happy to be joining the festivities over at CASE Study for their 2nd Anniversary! I was one of their muses earlier this year, so the lovey Chupa asked me to be a part of the hop :)

If you didn't get here via Maureen, you can go back to the beginning.

The challenge is "Think Out of the Box," and make something you normally wouldn't make.  Since everything I make is clean and simple, I decided to push myself and make a vintage card.  (I tried to channel my inner Kim Duran!)

I still stuck with what I was comfortable with (white card base!) then ventured into new territory with muted colors, lots of layers, and "stuff" (doily, hand icon, stitching, mini clothespin).  I used paper from the gorgeous Everyday Eclectic collection from Echo Park (I'm winking at you, Amy!)

I really like it- kinda like a CAS vintage.
