Our hostess at Our Creative Corner, Sharon Wheet, has another great challenge for you this week: make any paper project with a tea/tea party theme. Tea cups, tea pots, doilies, lace- they are all perfect for this challenge!
For my card, I wanted to really make tea a part of the project. I love to drink all kinds of tea in huge mugs...it's so cozy and soothing! So when I made my cup of tea the other night, instead of using a coaster I used a piece of cardstock! I made sure to be as sloppy as possible so I could get a really nice mug ring on the card.
I had a lot of trouble with the cardstock warping (I should have used watercolor paper), so I sewed it onto a black mat to stabilize it.
I made my own tea bag by folding a piece of vellum, cutting notches out of the top, and stapling a piece of knotted twine to it. Inside I placed a piece of scrapbook paper- it is actually "cork" paper, but I thought it looked like tea leaves...especially through the vellum!

Oh this is great, and did you see Wee Memories is doing twine this week, perfect timing! Tea challenge... I love coffee... but I'll see if I can find some tea inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThis card is so so so awesome!!!! tfs!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a very cool card you made for this challenge, Jen. A great, original idea to make a cup ring on your card and that tea bag you created is incredibly clever! I was grinning the whole time I read your post. Terrific take on this week's challenge.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great weekend!
