Hey there! I'm just popping in to share my card for the current Runway Inspired Challenge.

source: style.com

The birds in her dress got me thinking about Escher's Day and Night:

So I went ahead and designed a file for my digital die cutter, and here's the result:

Yes, for the second time in a row I was a rebel and didn't use the colors in the inspiration photo- remember, you can be inspired in any way and matching colors is not necessary :)

The background was watercolored onto smooth bristol, and each little die cut piece was adhered on top with foam tape (in the close-up shot above, you can see underneath the birds to the foam).  I kept the sentiment nice and simple, so it wouldn't compete with the rest of the card.

Please check out the rest of the DT!

Have a great day!

  1. Ha! Had to come see if this was a stencil! Love it.

  2. Wow! You are a clever girl, Jen! I love how you have done the positive and negative in one die cut. Brilliant.

  3. I love the cutting file you created for this card the color behind it is "simply" beautiful!

  4. Jaw-dropping gorgeousness. (Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my chin.) Good grief, girl. This is incredible beautiful.

  5. Your ideas are so unique and perfectly executed, I love the water colored BG and how u were inspired :)

  6. That die cut file you designed is da bomb! Such a cool optical illusion, I love it!!! Love the watecoloring underneath too, it's graphic and modern, but soft too.

  7. This is STUNNING!! I LOVE how you created your own die cut for this card. The background is so beautiful too. Awesome design.

  8. I'm breaking a rule here, but this time I have to say something. I'm a fan of Escher from the moment I saw one of his works about 4 or 5 years ago, and when I saw your card I said to myself "this looks inspired by Escher"... because it was - duh! :). I just didn't know how you have made it... this is beyond amazing, I don't have the right words...
